Materi Toefl tentang Passive Voice Present dan Past Continuous Tense
Well guys, ini adalah materi terakhir dari Toefl Corner February dan mohon perhatikan baik-baik. Oke, langsung saja ya. Pada pertemuan kali ini kita akan membahas tentang Present dan Past Continuous dalam bentuk Passive. Pastikan kalau kamu tahu dulu apa itu Present Continuous dan Past continuous ya (klik disini). Nah, jika sudah tahu, kamu pasti bakal gak asing lagi sama ciri Present continuous dan Past continuous yang selalu ada V-ing. Dalam bentuk passive, aturannya tetap gak bisa diganggu gugat. Verb dalam bentuk passive selalu Verb 3 gak boleh enggak. Jadi gimana dong bentuk passive nya dari Present dan Past Continuous? Perhatikan contoh dibawah ini:C
Passive Voice (Present Continuous)
Active: Right now, Sarah is writing the letter
Passive : Right now, the letter is being written by Sarah.
Active: Sheila is drinking a cup of tea.
Passive: A cup of tea is being drunk by
Passive Voice (Past Continuous)
Active: The salesman was helping the customer when the thief came into the store.
Passive: The salesman was helping the customer when the thief came into the store.
Active : He was starting new Business
Passive : New Business was being started

Setelah melihat contoh diatas, kalian pasti sudah bisa menyimpulkan bahwa Verb dalam kalimat Present Tense Continuous yang awalnya to be (am, is, are) + V-ing diubah menjadi to be (am, is, are) + being + Verb 3. Jadi, ketika diubah kebentuk passive Verb nya jadi bentuk Verb 3 dan Verb-ing diganti menjadi -being (ciri dalam present dan past continuous passive). Nah, sedangkan di Past Continuos, yang awalnya to be (was, were) + V-ing, maka dalam bentuk passive nya kata kerjanya diganti menjadi to be (was, were) + being + Verb 3. Gampang banget kan?
